Alfredo Sanchez- Director of Beverage

Born in Mexico City, Alfredo’s journey in hospitality began at the tender age of 15 – a passion that has since blossomed into a distinguished career. By the age of 18, Alfredo was turning out cocktails at high-profile private events for some of the most renowned wine and spirits brands such as Pernod Ricard, Domecq, and Suntory. In 2006, at just 20 years old, Alfredo moved to Puerto Vallarta and joined the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita team as Bartender and Tequila Barista, curating an impressive collection of more than 200 tequilas from across the country. Additionally, he spearheaded the first Green Program in Punta Mita, an initiative aimed at introducing sustainable food and beverage practices to the region.

“Interestingly, despite being native to Mexico, tequila was not widely popular in the destination,” he says about the agave spirit in the early aughts. “Especially in an urban environment such as Mexico City, spirits like vodka and whiskey had greater sway over the drinking culture. When I moved to Puerto Vallarta, I was now only a few hours away from the town of Tequila, in the western state of Jalisco and that was when I really fell in love with the national spirit.”

During his 12 years with Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Alfredo worked his way from Bartender to Bar Manager, and in 2018 he transitioned to Bar Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Dallas at Las Colinas (now a Ritz-Carlton). Here, he played a pivotal role in revitalizing the hotel’s beverage program and launching the acclaimed signature bar, Outlaw, with a bourbon and tequila-forward cocktail menu. Alfredo transformed a space that had formerly been a sports bar with billiards and shuffleboard, into a moody, distinctly Texan bar that paid homage to the outlaws of Texas music, such as Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Janis Joplin. Under Alfredo's leadership, Outlaw quickly emerged as one of the most profitable beverage concepts within the Four Seasons portfolio during its inaugural year.

In 2024, Alfredo joined the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, trading the sandy shores of Fort Lauderdale for the glamorous streets of Los Angeles. As Beverage Director of the legendary urban address, Alfredo oversees all bar operations, with an acute focus on creating exceptional experiences for guests and locals through the hotel’s beverage program. Alfredo is deeply passionate about spotlighting lesser-known wine regions and producers. Within his initial six months in Los Angeles, he has reinvigorated the hotel’s beverage offerings, assembling an extraordinary array of wines and spirits sourced from female and minority-owned vintners and distillers worldwide. Alfredo also takes pride in his role on the beverage council for Four Seasons, where he offers concept direction, conducts mixology training, and provides menu guidance to hotels and resorts throughout the region.

“Some of the proudest moments of my career have been introducing the spirit of my homeland to places where it was virtually unknown and being able to highlight the remarkable diversity and enchantment of the agave plant. I believe tequila is one of the most misunderstood spirits, especially if your only experience has been taking shots. In reality, every sip tells a story. From the savory, wild notes of a coastal raicilla, where the ocean meets the mountains, to extra-aged tequila that rivals the finest bourbons, to the smoky, fruity, and herbal notes of an Oaxacan mezcal, reminiscent of a rich mole from southern Mexico, each variety offers a unique and captivating experience.”

In his spare time, Alfredo can be found scouting the best bars and restaurants, travelling the world, and sipping on either of his favorite cocktails: a Naked & Famous or a Mezcal Negroni.
